I have completed a level 1 course last year and it was my first introduction to Protective Behaviours as a model of support for children and young people. I will be completing Level 2 in December 2019. I have long term experience of working in Children's services and CAMHs services in Essex, I am also an Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist in private practice in Hertfordshire and currently manage a Schools Family Support Partnership in East Herts. Since learning about Protective Behaviours, the core themes, how thoughts feelings and behaviours are linked in the training and also the 7 key strategies which are used to implement the themes and elements of the training I have been very impressed with the potential the model has to support the development of important life skills linked to safety, emotional well-being and mental health.
Using the model in every aspect of my working practice has enhanced the way I work with individuals,families and schools. I see great potential to support our local schools to embed the model further into their school communities and really develop a Protective Behaviours culture moving forwards. I am very appreciative of having had the opportunity experience the benefits of working with the model and look forward to developing it in every aspect of my work and becoming part of the Protective Behaviours community in the future.
