The Families Feeling Safe Programme
We developed an evidence-based programme for parents and carers of children and teenagers aged 0-19 years – ‘Families Feeling Safe Programme’
to enable parents and carers to take charge of their lives by helping them recognise how feelings, thoughts and behaviour are linked and how to help their children:
- Express their feelings in a responsible way
- Develop problem solving skills to help them feel safe
- Recognise and trust their feelings
- Improve relationships and communication
- Improve their emotional wellbeing
The Families Feeling Safe programme helps families to:
- Be healthy
- Be safe
- Be ambitious
- Be independent
- Be happy
- Be resilient
Each parent and carer will receive their own workbook with activities to try at home. The workbook was developed in partnership with parents and carers who attended the course.
Using this programme, Families Feeling Safe won bids from both Hertfordshire County Council and Hertfordshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) to provide services and training to schools, children’s centres and voluntary organisations amongst others.
