Autumn 2016 Newsletter

What we’ve been up to

The summer term was filled with training courses, delivering programmes to families and new and exciting ventures!

We ran 6 Level 1 courses, and 100 new people discovered the value of Protective Behaviours for themselves and their work. 16 people progressed their PBs knowledge by successfully completing a Level 2 course. We were also delighted to welcome 15 new people to our network of registered facilitators delivering our evidence-based Families Feeling Safe Programme for Mums, Dads and Carers.

4 My Family and Me. Several pilots of our brand new 4-session programme for parents and carers ran during the summer term. We will soon be meeting with our partners to explore the responses from parents and carers, and facilitators delivering the programme, and to make the necessary changes for the next round of delivery based upon their feedback.

ADHD group pilot. We were invited to run this in a school where some year 8 boys were at risk of permanent exclusion. The results from the programme were very encouraging. The school said ‘In most cases the risk of permanent exclusion is no longer there’ and as a result it has commissioned us to run another programme in the autumn term. It was also inspiring for our service to hear that, ‘The communication, professionalism and understanding that Families Feeling Safe have shown were excellent and I would thoroughly recommend their services.’

Update on ‘Norris’

This 4 session programme is for parents and their children age 5-8 years old.  They are fun workshops run in school designed to enable parents and their children to talk about and manage their feelings. 12 pilots have been completed in schools with wonderful feedback from children, parents, carers and schools. We would like to run one further pilot this term in Stevenage or North Herts. If you are interested please let us know as soon as possible and we would be delighted to come into your school and deliver this at a reduced rate. To register your interest please click here
